9. Freestanding Coat Rack or Hat Stand

A vintage coat tree or a simple wooden hat stand turns into a wreath carousel with almost no effort. The pegs are already at the right height, the base keeps it stable, and it can sit in a corner without touching a single wall.
Hang larger wreaths on the lower pegs and smaller ones up top for balance. Because the wreaths hang free, nothing presses against anything else, which makes this one of the gentlest options for fragile dried florals and delicate ribbon work. A coat rack with four to six pegs holds a full season’s collection, and the whole thing spins or shifts easily when you want to see what’s on the back.
Thrift stores and online marketplaces list these constantly for very little money, and a quick coat of spray paint in a neutral tone modernizes a dated one. If you’d rather not display your collection year-round, tuck the rack in a closet and drape a lightweight cover over it during the off months.
One practical note: check the base weight before loading it up. A lightweight rack with six wreaths on one side will tip. Distribute weight evenly, and put the heaviest wreaths on the pegs closest to the center.
